How Does Direct Admission Work?

We’ve reimagined the traditional application process to make it more accessible and less time-consuming for qualified students.

Who Qualifies for Direct Admission?

High School Seniors (Maine & Beyond)

  • Maine State residents: Graduating from a Maine high school, have maintained a strong Maine Early College academic record, or completed at least one early college (dual enrollment) course at any partnering institution with a grade of ‘C’ or better.
  • Out-of-state residents: Attend a partner high school or have maintained a strong academic record.

Maine Community College Students

  • Credit Achievement: Earned at least 30 credits in an approved associate degree program.
  • Degree Progression: On-track to obtain an associate degree in a Transfer Pathway program.

How to Accept Your Offer

  1. Receive Your Acceptance: Look out for an official Direct Admission offer via email or postal mail.
  2. Confirm Your Enrollment: Complete the brief confirmation form linked in your acceptance communication.
  3. Submit Necessary Documents: Provide final transcripts if required for your chosen program.
  4. Prepare for Arrival: Once confirmed, we’ll send you an admission packet with details about your major (or undeclared status) and guidance on class registration.

Pay Your Deposit

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, checks, money orders, and international bank payments.

Pay with Credit Card or E-Check

  1. Log into your MaineStreet Student Center using the credentials provided in your Admission letter or email.

  1. Select the Financials tab at the top of the screen.
  2. Look for the What I Owe widget of the Financials section.
  3. If you applied to more than one school in the University of Maine System, select University of Maine at Fort Kent from the dropdown menu, then click or tap Select.
  4. Choose your starting semester from the dropdown menu, then click or tap Select.
  5. Choose UMFK Admissions Deposit from the next dropdown menu, then click or tap Select.
  6. In the Payment Amount field, enter 50 for your deposit amount, then click or tap Continue.
  7. Choose your payment method from the dropdown menu, then click or tap Continue.
    • If paying by e-check (ACH), there is no service fee.
    • If paying by credit card, a non-refundable service fee (2.85% or a minimum of $3.00) will be added to your deposit total.
  8. Enter your payment information.
  9. Follow the remaining prompts until you receive confirmation and a payment receipt.

Pay by Mail with a Check or Money Order

Undergraduate students: Please include the Accepted Student Confirmation Card that arrived with your admission letter.

Graduate students: Please include a piece of paper with your full name, home address, and student ID number.

Pay by International Bank

Do you need to make payments while abroad? We’ve partnered with TransferMate and Flywire to accept payments from overseas!

TransferMate Global Payments

We have partnered with TransferMate to provide seamless international payments through your online student account. Log into your student account, select Make A Payment, choose TransferMate from the drop-down menu, and follow the prompts.

How to Make a Payment Through TransferMate:

Paying with TransferMate - Step 1
  • Log in to your Student Account.
  • Go to the Make Payment tab, and verify the Current Account Balance.
  • Select TransferMate in the Method drop-down menu.
  • Select the country you are paying from and click Review Rate.
  • Select your preferred payment method (bank transfer or e-wallets).
  • Enter payer details, confirm the payment information, and initiate your payment.
Paying with TransferMate - Step 2
  • If you are paying by bank transfer, you will be emailed the banking instructions. Make your payment to the instructed bank account.
  • If you chose to pay through your preferred e-wallet, follow the instructions presented online.
  • Only send the amount indicated on your student bill.
  • Include your unique Transaction Reference number with the payment.

NOTE: Brazilian, Chinese, South African, and Indian students will be required to send supporting documents, which can easily be uploaded.

Paying with TransferMate - Step 3
  • Once TransferMate receives your payment, it will be sent to your institution.
  • Your payment will automatically post to your Student Account.
  • Confirmation of the posted payment will be emailed to you and the institute.
