Bengal Badge for UMFK Students

Example of a UMFK Bengal BadgeAs a student, your Bengal Badge serves as your student ID, but it is more than just an identification card. It’s:

  • Your library card, containing a bar code for checking out materials;
  • Your meal plan card;
  • Your means to pay for printing services;
  • Your access pass to the UMFK Sports Center’s fitness facilities;
  • Your proof of status with UMFK to receive discounts from local businesses;
  • Your access pass to special events, both on and off campus, offering exclusive student discounts.

Your Bengal Badge also features Bengal Bucks (AKA University Bucks), which can be used for purchases at our campus store. This means you can shop without cash, credit, or debit cards. As part of the University of Maine System’s OneCard initiative, your Bengal Badge allows you to use University Bucks and meal plans/funds at locations across all UMS campuses, saving you the hassle of carrying multiple cards or cash.

Remember, while the OneCard does not expire, all student badges must be validated each semester to obtain student-specific benefits, and the Student Affairs Office provides the validation stickers upon proof of current enrollment.

Obtaining Your Bengal Badge

For new students, we have some good news! Your first Bengal Badge is free. When you’re first admitted to UMFK, you will receive an email with a unique link to upload a photo of yourself to use on your card. Your link will be sent to you within 12 to 14 days after you enroll, so it is critical to check your university email (including your spam folder) to ensure you receive your unique link and start the process. If you can’t find this email or accidentally delete it, don’t worry. You can request a new link by emailing Elysha Gagnon in the Student Affairs office at elysha.gagnon@maine.edu using your university email account. Your email request should include your full name and student ID number. We’ve got your back, so you can feel confident in the process.

Once you submit your information and photo, we will create your Bengal Badge, which can be picked up at the Student Affairs office in Cyr Hall. Please contact the Student Affairs office at (207) 834-7587 if you have any questions or concerns.

If you ever need a replacement, it’s a straightforward process. Visit the Student Affairs office, and they’ll issue you a new one. Please note that replacements are $20 each.

If you’re in the nursing program, your nursing badge, which is separate from the Bengal Badge, is $5 for the first one and $5 per replacement.
