Shuttle Service for Arriving Students

After you’ve uploaded all required documents, you can book your flight to Maine. The closest airport to UMFK is Presque Isle International Airport (PQI), which is about an hour’s drive south of the university. Upon arrival, you’ll need to arrange transportation from the airport to Fort Kent.

Please note that we do not provide a shuttle service from Bangor International Airport. If you fly into Bangor, you’ll need to purchase a bus ticket to either Caribou or Presque Isle. The bus service runs year-round, barring severe weather conditions. You can buy bus tickets through the Cyr Bus Line website.

We have designated shuttle days for pick-ups at PQI or the local bus stations, with a flat fee of $20. A minimum of 48 hours notice is required to arrange a driver. This shuttle is exclusively for UMFK students; friends and family must arrange their own transportation to campus. For vehicle rentals at PQI, visit the Budget Rent-a-Car website.

When signing up for a shuttle, please provide your pick-up date and time and specify whether you’re arriving at Presque Isle Airport, the Presque Isle Bus Stop, or the Caribou Bus Stop.

Additionally, regional taxi services are available to transport people from PQI to Fort Kent. Ride-sharing options like Uber and Lyft are also accessible, but availability is not guaranteed. To avoid issues, it’s advisable to make transportation arrangements in advance. When contacting these services, be sure to mention your destination, the University of Maine at Fort Kent (if you’re staying on campus), so they can accurately quote your fare.
