Student Life
Before arranging your flight and arriving on campus, you need to submit or obtain some necessary documents:
Once you’ve secured all the necessary documents, you can arrange your flight to Maine. The closest airport to UMFK is the Presque Isle International Airport (airport code: PQI), located an hour’s drive south of UMFK. The second closest airport is the Bangor International airport (airport code: BGR), located three hours’ drive south of UMFK. After you arrive, you’ll need to arrange travel from the airport to Fort Kent.
We have designated shuttle dates for pickup. You can sign up for a shuttle here.
If you require a different date or time, it will be your responsibility to make the necessary arrangements.
Regional taxi services are available to bring students from PQI to Fort Kent. Uber and Lyft ride-sharing services are also options in the area, but availability cannot be guaranteed at your arrival time. Therefore, it’s recommended that you make the necessary arrangements ahead of time for your transportation to Fort Kent. When contacting any of these companies, ensure they know your destination is the University of Maine at Fort Kent (if living on campus) so they can accurately price your fare.
DON’T FORGET — CHECK-IN WITH YOUR DSO AS SOON AS POSSIBLE UPON ARRIVAL
Upon reaching Fort Kent, you’ll first want to settle into your dorm and familiarize yourself with the locations of various campus buildings. Our campus map will help guide you while you find your way around. You’ll also want to learn about the businesses and activities available in Fort Kent and the surrounding area. The Fort Kent Chamber of Commerce is a wealth of information for those purposes. The town of Fort Kent’s website is also a valuable resource to learn about the area and the services the town offers.
